RP PAC LAUNCHES PROGRAM TO HIGHLIGHT RURAL HOSPITALS CLOSING BECAUSE OF REPUBLICAN TAX BILL

The Rural Path PAC (RP PAC) is launching a campaign to remind voters that Republicans’ “One Big Beautiful Bill” Act (OBBA) could lead to the closure of over 300 rural hospitals nationwide.

According to an analysis by the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research at the University of North Carolina, 338 rural hospitals nationwide now face serious risk of closure because of the law's Medicaid cuts. For these communities, the local ER, the maternity ward, or the only hospital bed within an hour's drive could disappear because Congressional Republicans decided a tax cut for billionaires was worth more than protecting access to health care in rural communities.

The program will begin with a six figure investment in VA-05, which will include a three piece mail program launching at the end of August. The first piece can be found here. Because of OBBA, 13 rural hospitals in Virginia are at risk of closing, including two in VA-05. The program will highlight the contrast between Republican John McGuire who has prioritized tax breaks for billionaires over protecting rural hospitals vs.Tom Perriello who has spent his career ensuring all Virginians have access to health care no matter their zip code or their income.

But Virginia isn’t the only place where rural hospitals are at risk.

Below are some key races in states or districts represented by Republicans where rural hospitals are at risk:

RP PAC is working to hold Republicans accountable for their votes and policies that are screwing over rural communities.
